Not only did that guy suck at playing ranger... He also had no idea what the Necro can do... spinal shivers + Cold wand or short bow = lolwhut interrupter as long as you have some sort of energy management that can keep up with it.

That's not about being lazy. That guy wants to get to KC ASAP because he can level up very quickly there, but in order for a NF character to get from NF to Cantha they have to complete the entire Istan story. There are plenty of ferries to the Docks, but few to other continents, hence the huge price.

I have friends who farm the raptors and those blue ice things (Sorry, forgot their name). They've told me themselves that its made a difference.

After reading this, do you still believe what your friends tell you?

I found that article and the loot article, it linked to very enlightening.
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Loot#Loot_scaling
So, judging by the articles (which has a quote from an official source), solo farming, as compared to farming with a party or leechers, gets you approximately twice as much gold and approximately eight times as many gold items, green items, dyes, scrolls, materials, tomes, and festival items.
Unless we're going to disbelieve the devs on this, that is.

You are seriously suggesting that a raptor farmer with 7 leechers gets 8 times more gold items than a solo raptor farmer?

If you get a ferry to docks, you need to get a ferry to the other continents. You obviously don't know what a ferry is. It's not a run.

No, I (and the April 20, 2007 update notes) are suggesting the opposite. Solo farmers should get a lot more golds, tomes, etc.

It's a little hard to tell without context, but I think that might be taking place in The Marketplace, and the guy wants a run to Kaineng Center (if that's what KC means here).

Seeing as it has the title announcements, it's one of the major towns or uw/fow access areas. Probably Kamadan.

You know you can't rely on wikia articles, right?
I mean, at all.
That being said, nothing in that article explicitly undermines the "leech" theory. They could be considered different behaviors altogether.

It has been proven time and again that loot scaling was not implemented by the wayofficialially described (originally by Gaile). It's down to rate of kill. Leechers have no impact at all. Kill 30 with a 20-30 second game between each and you get 26+ drops. Kill the same mob all in one second and you get 3-6 drops. Every time repeatable. This effect is also in full force when you first enter a zone, so wait a minute before you farm.
Don't take anyone's word for it, just try it on any mob you can, anywhere, anytime.

There was some experiment done a while back that conclusively proved that this is all bunk. IIRC item drops are seeded at the time of area entry. They used 2 characters to enter at the exact same time, one with AoE and the other with single target kills, and both received identical drops.

Over a long period of time farming Jaya, I have found that the first group or two of birds will drop nothing if I charge right in without delay, and will drop in normal amounts if I take a couple of mins after zone in.
Also I have found that aggroing and killing two groups at once will rarely give any more loot than a single group kill.
I get more feathers by going at a relaxed pace. In my experience the anti farm code is anything but bunk.

No, the builds used in that test did not kill fast enough. Shield of Judgment is too slow. That test suggests that instances created at the same time generate the same or similar items.
Builds with instant AoE kills such as Hundred Blades, Whirling Defense, or trapping will yield different results, and may be independently verified by anyone who cares to test themselves. See here.

That thread showed that drops are seeded by server time, OMG who'd have throught that!!!!! It said nothing about drop rate and loot nerf. If you actually read that thread you will also notice the proof I posted in it near the end.
As I said, do not believe anyone, do not believe me, TRY IT YOURSELF. It's easy, anyone can do it, all you have to do is bother, pick any place where you have builds that can kill the same mobs slow or fast.

No need to jump on me so hard. Can you blame me for not fully remembering a 2+ year old thread? If you have conclusive evidence evidence pointing otherwise than why aren't the results publicized in the aforementioned wiki pages instead of being hidden in age-old forum threads? Lord knows how good the search function is.
